UMMNH Exhibit

In 2020, the Museum Anthropology course was invited to develop an exhibit for the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History (UMMNH) student showcase.  Students worked together in teams to select objects for the exhibit, write labels for these objects, and develop content for a text panel. The goal of the exhibit was for students to share their research on the history of the plants and textiles that Volney Jones collected and perspectives that present-day Anishinaabe community members has shared with them.

This exhibit, Knowledge Sharing: Students Learning from an Ethnobotanist's Notes and Anishinaabe Artists, was origally scheduled to open in the spring of 2020, along with a modified version of the Wiidanokiindiwag (They Work With Each Other) exhibit. The exhibit was delayed for over a year by the COVID-19 pandemic.  It was installed in the summer of 2021 and available for public viewing until June 2022.  This website grew out of discussions about how to make the exhibit content available for those who could not visit the physical exhibit.
